Barcode
by Thaddeus Blustein

A tear streaks her cheek,
as she peers at the barcode
stained on her forearm.

A woman, withered and wrinkled,
reflects, and remembers a time
     of terror and panic,
when satanic German demons imprisoned her soul,
and slowly slaughtered her family and friends,
forcing her being to deflate and collapse upon itself.
Her soul had been battered and bruised,
     beaten, black and blue.
The recollection bleeds through the old identity that
she has scribed onto her arm.

A tear streaks her cheek,
as she peers at the barcode
stained on her forearm.
