Critical by Brittney Chilton

If I could corner anxiety, I would ask it to calm down
and remain settled while I go out and try to please other emotions.
If I could corner jealousy, I would growl at it. Scare
it so much I would never have to be blinded by the
sight of it again.
If I could corner admiration, I wouldn't be mean, or cruel,
or stubborn, I would tap its shoulder and thank it for
consuming me when at my best.
Jealousy lies amidst the salmon pink sunset, looking
out onto a small town just below its pedestal
It's like that of a chameleon. It's as tempting as velvet,
With eyes that reek of sharp forest green. Dressed
in the finest cloth, from head to toe, decked out in
colorful suede and cashmere. For it must change its
appearance so it is not mistaken for evil.
