A Letter to Envy by Brandon Edgar

|
Dear Envy,
Why do your eyes stare so clearly--at the desires and lusts of our very existence?
Can't you see that one's heart can be torn out? One's compassion ripped to shreds? And one's hatred slashed out?
Do your crimson eyes ever blink? Does your indigo complexion ever falter?
When will you ever stop gazing into my face of pity? Will you always be beside me, whispering in my ear?
