The Crossroads
by Forrest Ambruster

The crossroads sinks into the muddy banks like a birds’ foot.
And the fresh green that lines it makes us feel lucky. In the rain, we shrink and our voices cannot reach the sky. Although they were never light enough anyways. Can you imagine all the light leaving us?
The crossroads fade beneath us like decomposing boots
