When we discovered and were discovered

by Jazz Sexton

Without letting on
the languid Moon so did run
came along the reluctant Sun
The Sea was barren at the interrogation
Moon rose to shadow Sun
Earth cradled the draining Sea
'Cry your sorrow into my soil
and do not fear
for I will soak in your tears
Without your life I could not grow'
Said the Sea, 'take my life
and with it save me
without you I would fall forever'
