Dear Heartbreak

by Stephanie Pires

Stephanie Pires

Once a heart dancing,
Turning a face scarlet,
Sleeping in velvet,
But interrupted
By an earpiercing scream.
Loud, too loud.
Hard as marble,
Walking along the rough wood,
Trying to block out
The loud booms
Making an unwanted beat.
A face violet with anger and confusion.
Burning like charcoal.
Walking crookedly,
Trying to block it out.
Broken.
