Flight

by Tyler McCourt

eyes glazed over in a daze of days
a daisy bewildered, wilted and withered,
splintering, slivers erupting from shivers;
the frigid cold winds eroding her mark
on the soul of the melodious meadowlark.
a new symbol bared on a bare-chested big breasted
boasting bird, a belligerent mind of a brash kind.
an unabashed gaze into beige eyes of brown ash
from a fire once burn'd in the lark's small heart.
distanced from landmarks in arteries and devoid of
breath-nurture, he collapsed;
just like the flower-thatched
roof of his abode
he once knew as his
home sweet home.

a grave so natural, the still remains bring soaring life.
a phoenix from a lark he becomes to rise.
but scarred forever from his first flight crashed
in hellfire and heavenwind bliss.
