SPD is so proud to announce that Abigail Child's MOUTH TO MOUTH (EOAGH Books, 2016) and The Complete Works of Pat Parker, edited by Julie R. Enszer (A Midsummer Night's Press, 2016) have won the 2017 Lambda Literary Awards for Bisexual and Lesbian Poetry respectively. We're so happy to be part of the Lambda Literary Awards every year and consider it a cornerstone of our community - congrats to them on a beautiful event, and to our authors and publishers for this wonderful acheivement.
"As the Black Lives Matter movement calls attention to the grave risks Black people have always faced and as poets and artists wrestle with the question of how to marry the political and the personal in their work, we have never needed Pat Parker's work more. It is absolutely immediate, searing, salving, saving, and necessary." -Kazim Ali
"Even as this divergent collection of writing ranges through these relationships, it also ranges through poetic methodologies, using computers as a writerly id and organizing principle, employing constraints and aleatory processes, and recalling the body's desires in a constant process of titillation, problematization, and ongoing translation"
