Fiction. Poetry. Art. "This is not a time to be without wishes"-Ernest Bloch. This idea has helped form the theme of the most recent issue of AMERICAN LETTERS AND COMMENTARY. Summoning artists and writers to "Create a future. Write a world. Wish for something. Invent a terrain. Visit a planet. Explode a myth", the editors of AMERICAN LETTERS have included poetry and fiction from writers including Octavia Butler, Lisa Jarnot, Fanny Howe, Brenda Hillman in combination with the art work of Steve Budington, Donald Evans, Becky Silverstein and others. This collaboration overlays texts of creation and invention, inviting its readers to explore the potential worlds of others and, in doing so, invent their own.
