Poetry. Latino/Latina Studies. In keeping with her name, Sherezada Chiqui Vicioso is a mistress of many stories and many sleepless nights, who understands not only the interstices of international and Caribbean politics, but also the importance of narrative and poetry to personal survival. Currently Ambassador for Women, Children and Adolescents at the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and an occasional consultant to the UN, as well as author of a number of poetic and feminist biographies, Vicioso is a poet and writer keenly aware of both the power and the vulnerability of women in today's world. As she sings in one of her poems, "I am all the Juanas/ the one who leaps to clean the cannons/ the one who fights without arrows or a bow/ the one who writes her resignation letter/ with the same ink/ to which she is enslaved." EVA/SION/S is the first work by Vicioso to be published simultaneously in three languages--Spanish, English, and French.
