Fiction. These twelve intimately evocative stories conjure up the complex world of dancers: would-be and could-be dancers, those who dance for pleasure, politics, or religion, those who dance in dreams, those who adamantly refuse to dance, and those who can't dance anymore. Accomplishing the difficult trick of demonstrating an insider's knowledge without resorting to technical jargon, Brenner lets her readers share the innermost triumphs and disappointments of her subjects. For admirers and students of every conceivable form of dance, as well as for lovers of good fiction, this collection consistently delights with its compassion and insight. A perfect gift for dancers of any age.
