Poetry. Lisa Robertson's fourth collection of poetry, THE WEATHER, explores in both form and content the cyclical patterns of experience. Weaving lush observations of the flux and flow of the natural world with a scholar's attention to the evolution of ideas and their expression, it demonstrates how patterns of nature and thought reflect and influence each other. The circular movement of endings and beginnings is mirrored in the book's structure, a progression through the days of the week that concludes with a brief section titled "Porchverse." Here, the speaker rests, considers the details of what has passed and realizes that "I've never done anything / but begin." The reader is thus carried back to the beginning of the book, to the opening lines of "Sunday" and the present tense of weather: "About here. All along here."
