Poetry. Latino/Latina Studies. Francisco Morales Santos is well-known throughout Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world. Winner of Guatemala's prestigious Premio Nacional Miguel Angel Asturias, he has published more than five volumes of his poetry, among them Agua en el silencio, Ciudades en llanto, and Implicaciones del verbo amar. His work has appeared in translation in City Lights Anthology, Volcan, and An Anthology of Guatemalan Poets. This bilingual edition includes Santos' original poems facing translations by Joan Lindgren, a Fullbright Border Scholar.
