Poetry. In OLD ORDNANCE, Charles Scott writes poetry concerning personal experiences past and present. Indeed, the title of this beautifully produced letterpress chapbook gives a good clue as to Scott's central topic: the experience of war. The title poem narrates the terror faced in Vietnam of camping near an ominously smoking hole filled with spent ordnance. Elsewhere, more idyllic renderings of present-day life are shown to be haunted by the specters of war, by the memories of bodies being torn apart, which in turn fade back into Scott's efforts to cope with his experiences through good times spent with friends and nature.
