Carole Byard's awards for painting, sculpture, and drawing include two National Endowment for the Arts Visual Arts Fellowships, grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, the Gottlieb Foundation, and the Ford Motors Institute of International Education; and for her children?s books, she has received the Caldecott Medal and two Coretta Scott King Awards.
