Magazine. Poetry. RUNES is an annual themed anthology of one hundred poems. The theme is approached from all directions: traditional and expected, as well as metaphorical, metaphysical, imaginative and innovative. The poems are assembled to read from one to the other, leading the reader on from beginning to end. Of course, RUNES can also be 'tasted' out of order as well. The theme for 2006 is HEARTH. Poems are chosen from over 7000 submitted. The quality is extremely high, and is headed by such well regarded poets as Ralph Angel, Mary Jo Bang, Mark Doty, Annie Finch, Barbara Hamby, Ilya Kaminsky, W. S. Merwin, Alberto Rios, David St. John, and others both known and less known. RUNES is a flat-spined, signatured book with full color cover and some inside illustrations.
