Fiction. ROULETTE is a joyous and iconoclastic tale of outsiders taking on the established and corrupt power figures in a David-and-Goliath tale about love and commitment to community. The greedy real-estate developers, right-wing Christians, and sleazy (Republican) politicos are arrayed against artists, queers, nomads, and over-the-top residents of a shantytown that gains identity, as well as social importance, through opposition to county, state, and, ultimately, the national realpolitik. The zany cast of characters includes a bald duck, an obsessive-compulsive fat lady who always wears yellow, and a gorgeous Marilyn Monroe-like accident-prone sexpot.
