Poetry. In AT ISSUE, Toronto author Mac Cormack examines the format and contents of the magazine, reflecting the experience of reading that format within a critical agenda. Utilizing the vocabulary and spelling found in magazines of a diverse nature, this series of poems is full of interruptions and syntactical disarrangements. However, AT ISSUE also includes non-magazine poems as a variant measure of linguistic origin, and an alternative to 'mined' creativity. "repetition not a closure/ or love of love of/ hold me to the letters// we maximize nothing beyond pleasure"-(from "love poem's alibi") Mac Cormack is the author of nine other books, including THE TONGUE MOVES TALK, QUIRKS & QUILLETS, and the related 'newspaper' collaboration FIT TO PRINT (with Alan Halsey), all available at SPD.
