Poetry. EXCESSIVE LOVE PROSTHESES takes the confessional lyric poem and runs it through Kathy Acker's Cuisinart. In these pages, Margaret Christakos shapes a sensory surfeitry of pornography, cautionary nursery rhymes, mothering, bisexuality and the paradoxes of feminism into a series of poignant analogies for contemporary obsessions and ailments. The result is a near-ecstatic tribute to the hyper-embodied intelligence of a new millennial subject. Christakos's other collections include Other Words for Grace, The Moment Coming and Wipe Under a Love. Her novel Charisma was shortlisted for the Trillium Book Award in 2001. She lives in Toronto.
