Poetry. Stephen Beal is a native of Evanston, Illinois, who now makes his home in Colorado. A longtime editor and author of several nonfiction books, he turned to poetry relatively recently, but has made up quickly for lost time. His poems have appeared in such publications as Tri-Quarterly, Many Mountains Moving, and HANGING LOOSE, and his first collection, The Very Stuff, received the 1997 poetry award from The Colorado Center for the Book. Beal is also a fiber artist of international reputation.
