Poetry. "In these 'avenues' the urban austerity of Strang's tone gleams, 'opaque but all features visible to the touch.' Terse exposition—'the couple dies together'—jostles against hauntingly prescient meditation—'sterile // habit // suggested // the // dark burn.' The immediacy of city living, the breathing of its expansions and contractions, is audible in this poet's craft. As we listen, each instance of our experience both particularizes and enlarges—'you may realize all of this / comes as everything'."—Rusty Morrison
"The writing is vigorous, beautifully measured and filled with active presence and event."—Aaron Shurin
