Emilio Jorge Rodríguez is a Cuban essayist and literary critic. The Havana University graduate is a former director of Casa de las Américas Center of Caribbean Studies, where he was also a researcher from 1979 to 2000. Rodríguez founded and edited Anales del Caribe from 1981 to 2000. He has lectured at universities in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the USA. Rodríguez is the author of Literatura caribeña; bojeo y cuaderno de bitácora (1989) and Acriollamiento y discurso escrit/oral caribeñ (2001). He has edited several anthologies of Caribbean writers, and has contributed essays to numeous books, including América Latina: Palavra, Literatura e Cultura (1995), A History of Literature in the Caribbean (1997), and Encyclopedia of Caribbean Literature (2006). Most recently, he is author of HAITÍ AND TRANS-CARIBBEAN LITERARY IDENTITY/HAITI Y LA TRANSCARIBEÑIDAD LITERARIA (House of Nehesi Publishers, 2011).
