Poetry. "Chris Mason has fabricated a set of visual charms, small and intense constellations of words that make & do, bounce & hope, zap & slap. These are dreams of poems more than poems of dreams, sweet & filled with delight"—Charles Bernstein.

Author City: BALTIMORE, MD USA

Chris Mason was lucky enough to grow up in Minnesota with a philosopher and a librarian and brothers and sisters who became musicians, poets, teachers, and archivists. He has lived in Baltimore for 40 years. In the late 70s he was part of the performance group CoAccident and Doug Lang's Folio Books poetry workshop. Since 1979 he has, with Charles Brohawn, been a member of the Tinklers, whose records and CDs were released by Shimmy Disc and Serious and who were featured in the 2008 documentary Everybody Loves the Tinklers by Brian J. Averill. Since 2002 he has, with Liz Downing and Mark Jickling, been a member of Old Songs, who translate archaic Greek poetry and put it to music. He lives in Baltimore with his wife Ann, his daughter Elizabeth, and his son Will. His previous publications include Poems of a Doggy (pod books, Baltimore, 1977); Click Poems (Shabby Editions, London, 1982). And with the Tinklers, The Elements (Shattered Wig, Baltimore, 2009) and various handmade, Xeroxed, and mimeo-ed books including The Tinklers History of the World, Tinklers Songs and Charts, and Our Children's Children's Worlds.
