Description
Poetry. Edited by Guy Bennett. Translated from the Italian by Guy Bennett, Faust Pauluzzi, and Giovanna Sandri. Bilingual Edition. This collection brings together writings that span the career of the late Italian poet. The included pieces—verbal and visual texts, poems and poetic essays—each explore writing as graphic trace (as opposed to purely aesthetic or intellectual activity), a fascination that informs the whole of Sandri's work.
Author Bio
Giovanna Sandri (1923-2002) produced a unique body of verbo-visual poetry over the course of her thirty-year career. In addition to her six volumes of poetry/poetics, her writings were published in journals and anthologies internationally, and her visual texts featured in numerous exhibitions of concrete poetry in the 1960s and '70s. A contemporary of the Gruppo 63, Sandri stood apart from it, and her work is one of the most singular of the Italian Neo-Avant-Garde.
