Stoyan Vassilev was born in 1979 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He arrived in the USA in 1998. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2003 and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Cornell University in 2005. He is an MFA candidate of creative fiction at San Francisco State University. He was the winner of the New Beginnings Web Contest at Scribophile in 2010, the recipient of the Miriam Ylvisaker Fellowship in 2011, and the winner of the Michael Rubin Award in 2012. He lives in Boulder Creek, rural California, with his wife, baby, and two golden retrievers.
