Poetry. Multimedia. This follow-up to Downing's 2005 collection DARK BRANDON is the filmic flip-side of that book's dizzying convergence of visual culture and syntactic shock. Drawing on 1960s Bollywood, 1980s Public Access poetry television, poorly rendered nature-documentary graphics, and other heights (and depths) of the moving image, these films, collected here, remain nothing less than poetry. "It is all change in the two Hollywood Go-Go Bars on the top floor in Nana Plaza. Wow, DARK BRANDON has the lush look and feel of Circus Disco Arena Food--to speak of a golden age mash-up mastermind, well that's what I'm doing. His hobbies were some of our best-kempt secretions--but now The Pleasuredome is yours"--Rod Smith. "I would banish vipers, wolves, and weak-wristed circle jerkers for DARK BRANDON"--Anne Boyer. "The Flarf contingent are cutting, pasting and overdubbing Bollywood movies. Man, how cool and with-it is that?! It's been a long time since I found it necessary to pay attention to a poetry movement. Now, I will"--Bruce Sterling.
