Shout out to Mom

By Kelsey Fernandez

Here’s to the person who’s always been there
Here’s to the one who cares the most
Here’s to the one who gave me life
Here’s to the patience and practice

Here’s to the understanding
and the forgiving
Here’s to all the chances
Here’s to all the time and money
Here’s to all the hours
of working hard
Here’s to all the laughs
Here’s to all the tears

Here’s to the one who keeps me alive
Here’s to the one who pushes me to strive
Here’s to the person who’s changed my life

Here’s to the one who wants only the best for me
Here’s to the one I can always ask if I need anything
Here’s to the one I work hard for

Here’s to the one I can say
has been here since the first day
Here’s to the one I always put first
Here’s to the one who had me at birth

Here’s to the one I love and trust
Here’s to the one I feel sometimes is unfair
but as I grow up realize it’s because she cares

Here’s to the one who taught me mostly
everything I know
Here’s to the one who feels my pain
Here’s to the one who I can’t explain
Here’s to the reason I have a good life
ahead of me
Here’s to the one I love unconditionally
Here’s to the only one
I’ll ever call Mom
