Author: Sharon Doubiago

In order to be a poet, Sharon Doubiago's main home for many years has been her vehicles—an Ambassador station wagon named Roses, a Dodge van named Psyche, and a Ford conversion van named Valentine. A vagabond poet in the ancient tradition, she has lived, written taught and performed mainly on the West Coast, from Baja to British Columbia—most significantly the artist/poet towns of Mendocino, Ashland, Newport, Portland, and Port Townsend. Freed from the onerous burden of rent and permanency, living on the road enabled her to experience a broad spectrum of American life and culture and write full time, all of which is reflected in her many books.
