Ruth Moon Kempher, an ex-navy brat who was born in Red Bank, NJ, has had her poetry and short prose—fiction and critical articles—appear in journals and other periodical publications since early verse publications in The Saturday Evening Post, McCall's and The Village Voice in the early 1960's, at about the time she first made a home with her husband in St. Augustine, Florida. She is now retired from owning The White Lion Tavern in the historic San Agustin Antigua area, and from teaching—first for Flagler College while attaining her BA, and graduating with the college's first class; and later, after achieving her MA at Emory University in Atlanta, in the English Department of St. Johns River Community College. Since 1994, she has published the work of many poets through her Kings Estate Press, in single chapbooks and anthologies, collections which are always illustrated. For some time, she has traveled extensively in order to research the work of writers who are also artists. After years of living at the beach, she now lives in the woods in an old cracker house, with two dogs, Sadie, a long-legged hound, and Mister Frost, an emotional American Husky.
