Cathryn Hankla is the author of a dozen books of poetry and fiction including GREAT BEAR (Groundhog Poetry Press LLC, 2016), Afterimages, Negative History, Texas School Book Depository: prose poems, Poems for the Pardoned, Last Exposures: a sequence of poems, and Fortune Teller Miracle Fish: stories. Professor of English and a past director of the Jackson Center for Creative Writing, she serves as Chairperson of the English Department at Hollins University and Poetry Editor of The Hollins Critic. Winner of a PEN Syndicated Fiction Award, a Virginia Commission for the Arts grant, and the James Boatwright III Prize for Poetry, her essays, poems, and stories have appeared in literary journals nationwide.
