Kimberly Reyes is an award-winning poet and essayist who began her transition to creative writing after receiving her Master of Arts from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in 2013. She has since been awarded grants, fellowships, and scholarships from the Poetry Foundation, Callaloo at Brown University, Summer Literary Seminars in Kenya, the Prague Summer Program for Writers, San Francisco State University, and other places. Kimberly's most recent book of literary nonfiction essays is LIFE DURING WARTIME (Fourteen Hills, 2019), winner of the 2018 Michael Rubin Book Award. She is the author of two poetry books, Running to Stand Still (Omnidawn Oct, 2019), semi-finalist for the 2017 Luminous Origin Literary Award and finalist for Civil Coping Mechanism's 2017 Mainline Competition, and Warning Coloration (dancing girl press 2018), finalist for the Two Sylvias Press 2017 Chapbook Competiton and honorable mention for the 2017 Wild Leek Press Chapbook Competition. Her writing has been published in The Atlantic, The Associated Press, Entertainment Weekly, Time.com, The New York Post, The Village Voice, Alternative Press, ESPN the Magazine, Jane, Honey, NY1 News, The Best American Poetry, poets.org, The Feminist Wire, The Acentos Review, Yemassee, Obsidian, and RHINO, among other places.
