Mihail Sebastian (1907-1945), born Losif Mendel Hechter, was a Romanian playwright, essayist, journalist and novelist. His novels The Accident and For Two Thousand Years have previously been translated into English, along with his Journal 1935-1944: The Fascist Years, which Philip Roth wrote "deserves to be on the same shelf as Anne Frank's Diary and find as huge a readership."
