Author: George Kalamaras

George Kalamaras, former Poet Laureate of Indiana (2014- 2016), is the author of sixteen books of poetry, nine of which are full-length including LUMINOUS IN THE OWL'S RIB (Dos Madres Press, 2019), KINGDOM OF THROAT-STUCK LUCK (Elixir Press, 2011), THE RECUMBENT GALAXY (C&R Press, 2010), GOLD CARP JACK FRUIT MIRRORS (The Bitter Oleander Press, 2008), and EVEN THE JAVA SPARROWS CALL YOUR HAIR (Quale Press, 2004). He has received several national prizes for his poetry, and he spent several months in India in 1994 on an Indo-U.S. Advanced Research Fellowship. He is Professor of English at Purdue University Fort Wayne (formerly Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne), where he has taught since 1990. He lives with his wife, writer Mary Ann Cain, and their beagle, Bootsie, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
