Author: Deborah Cummins

Deborah Cummins is the author of three poetry collections, UNTIL THEY CATCH FIRE (Deerbrook Editions, 2020), BEYOND THE REACH (BkMk Press, 2005) and Counting the Waves, and a collection of personal essays, Here and Away: Discovering Home on an Island in Maine, a finalist in the 2012 Maine Literary Awards Best Book of Non-Fiction. Her poems and essays have appeared in nine anthologies and more than sixty journals and magazines, including Orion, Fourth Genre, Gettysburg Review, Yale Review and Shenandoah. One of her essays was listed as Notable in 2013 Best American Essays. Originally from Chicago, she was the first board chair of the Poetry Foundation. She currently serves as board president of Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance (MWPA). She and her husband reside in Portland and Deer Isle, Maine.
