Michael Gessner has authored 11 books of poetry and prose including ANALECTS (BlazeVOX [books], 2019), THE WRITER'S CIRCLE AND OTHER STORIES (BlazeVox [books], 2016), TRANSVERSALES (BlaeVox [books], 2013), and BEAST BOOK (BlazeVox [books], 2010). The Poetry Foundation selected several for its digital archives in 2017. He has been a finalist in several competitions including "Discovery/The Nation," The Pablo Neruda Award, and North American Review's James Hearst Poetry Prize. His work appears in The American Journal of Poetry, American Letters & Commentary, American Literary Review, The French Literary Review, Journal of the American Medical Association, Kenyon Review, North American Review, Oxford Review, Verse Daily, The Yale Journal of Humanities and others. He is a voting member of the National Book Critics Circle. Gessner is married to Jane Catherine Rassicotte, a watercolorist, and has one son, Christopher, who writes for screen.
