Nanao Sakaki was a Japanese poet who wandered the Planet in the late 20th century, an inspiration to poets, artists and musicians around the world. In his foreword, Gary Snyder says that Nanao was known as "a uniquely free and bold-spirited wanderer, occasional river or mountain activist, singer and chanter, and internationally published poet."
