Melba Joyce Boyd is the author of nine books of poetry and the recipient of numerous grants and awards. She is a Distinguished University Professor and Chair of the Department of Africana Studies at Wayne State University and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan.
