The Dual Nature of Silence (A Csend Kettös Természete)

Bill Wolak is a poet whose work has appeared in many literary magazines. He has published several collections of poetry, including BECOME A RIVER, Pale As An Explosion, ARCHEOLOGY OF LIGHT, LOVE EMERGENCIES (with Mahmood Karimi Hakak), and Warming the Mirror. His most recent translation, YOUR LOVER'S BELOVED: FIFTY-ONE GHAZALS OF HAFEZ, with Mahmood Karimi-Hakak was published by Cross-Cultural Communications in 2009. Mr. Wolak has been awarded several National Endowment for the Humanities scholarships and two Fulbright-Hays scholarships to study and travel in India. Mr. Wolak has traveled throughout Asia including trips to Tibet, Nepal, Thailand, Japan, and China. In 2007, he was selected to participate in a Friendship Delegation to Iran sponsored by the Fellowship Of Reconciliation, the nation's largest and oldest interfaith peace and justice organization. He teaches Creative Writing at William Paterson University. Mr. Wolak's critical work, which specializes in writing about international as well as American writers, has appeared in Notre Dame Review, Southern Humanities Review, Paterson Literary Review, and Persian Heritage Magazine.

Sándor Halmosi, Hungarian poet, literary translator, publisher, and mathematician, was born in Szatmárnémeti (Satu Mare, Romania) in 1971. He lived in Germany for 16 years, but currently lives in Budapest, Hungary. Besides all his literary activities, he gives presentations on tradition, poetry, language, and symbols, with a view to promoting poetry and cultural dialogue, as well as the intersection of literature and fine art. Halmosi is member of several writers' associations, including the Hungarian PEN Club. He is founder of the Literary and Art Association Echivox (Stuttgart), creator and founder of the Csontváry Memorial Hall and Atelier Cultural Association (Budapest) and is a full member of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters EASAL (Paris). He has organized workshops and salons. As of 2008, he has been a participant of the Romanian-Hungarian poets gathering `The Spring of Poetry' and has been connected to a global network of poets, often arranging for their work to be translated into Hungarian. In 2016, he started making cloisonné enamel artworks. His poems have been translated into ten languages.

Elizabeth Csicsery-Ronay is a writer, poet, translator, and editor. She studied philosophy at George Washington University, then modern languages at the Sorbonne, Paris. Was music critic for five years for The Bulletin, Brussels and editor of the Berlioz Society Bulletin for 12 years. She has translated books on music, history, politics, short stories, novels, children's stories, and poetry from French and Hungarian into English. Her magnum opus is a translation of Hector Berlioz's collection of music criticism, A Travers Chants, The Art of Music and Other Essays. She translated many poems by Hungarian poets in the anthology, Down Fell the Statue of Goliath, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Her own poems come to her in three languages, Hungarian, French, and English. They have been translated into many languages.
