Poetry. In the elegant poems of Michael Autrey's first full-length collection, our fear is a mysterious remnant disturbingly augured in fizzling dream fragments, birds' predatory cunning, and the glorious extravagances of great art. And these limn for us what we fear most: "a future, in which we are scanned like a text."
Born in Massachusetts and raised in Portland, Oregon, Michael Autrey has studied in France and Greece, lived and worked in the Czech Republic, India and Paraguay, and made long visits to Australia. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago. In 2010 he moved back to the Second City, where he reviews books and teaches writing. OUR FEAR (The Cultural Society, 2013) is his first book.
