Description
Poetry. WELCOME LIGHT straddles the earth's hemispheres while charting experiences contemplative and peripatetic, bucolic and urban, and metaphysical and scientific. Paul Kane evokes his predecessor—Joseph Brodsky, Robert Frost, Pushkin, and others—as only a mature poet of wide experience, keen sensitivity, and deep knowledge can. Poems lyric and narrative and elegiac and ecstatic escort us through past and present, east and west, and the earthly and the celestial. The mournful and the celebratory resonate together in fresh, lucid English translations of Hafiz.
