Description
Poetry. African & African American Studies. Latinx Studies. "In ÁFRICA EN MI PIEL / AFRICA IN MY SKIN / L'AFRIQUE DANS LA PEAU... more than an idea of social class or politics proper, the poet takes us on a journey across the islands of the Caribbean region where he uncovers the footprints of its inhabitants. ..This book, in three of the basic languages of the Caribbean—Spanish, English, and French—is very important. It allows a work like ÁFRICA EN MI PIEL / AFRICA IN MY SKIN / L'AFRIQUE DANS LA PEAU, which is emblematic within contemporary poetry in the Dominican Republic, to reach a larger audience."—Mateo Morrison
"In AFRICA IN MY SKIN, the drums beat out the taste of coconut trees to the rhythm of a turbulent sea."—Pedro Pérez-Sarduy
"Grasping imagery underlying the complexities of modern society, deriving...transcending...from Africa to the Caribbean."—Danielle Chance
