In the 1950's and '60's UK authors discovered that the liveliest writing came from the Black Mountain and New York Schools, as well as the San Francisco Renaissance in the US. Golden Handcuffs Review presents work from the US, UK, and Canada by members or continuers of those inventive, lively movements.

Lou Rowan writes fiction, poetry, essays. Inspired by the literary scene in New York's Lower East Side in the 60's, his writing and editing seeks to continue the traditions originated by Black Mountain College, the New York School, and the San Francisco Renaissance.
