Description
Poetry. "These three virtuosic acts of exactitude, musicality, and torment are in the end a single drama, set at the edge of what we can say for sure about ourselves, and about the lives that pass by all around us... These poems suffer and think their way through love and loss. WITHIN HEARING is an austere and mesmerizing theater of talk, touch, and song."—Joseph Donahue
"With laser-like precision, Joseph Noble's WITHIN HEARING creates a kind of holographic account of emotional tones within spare but lush landscapes, a parataxis of sand and skin... The reader encounters an arc that is actually a startling white-hot hope, 'beyond measure.'"—Norma Cole
