Poetry. Fiction. Literary Nonfiction. Women's Studies. Art. MUTTER-BABEL, a graphic and textual exploration of ugly archaic feelings and their troubling social effects. It is a verbo-visual experiment integrating handmade drawings with computer-designed texts, exploring very early feelings babies have for their mothers. Whether because many people cannot remember these (at least consciously), or because they do not consider such material interesting, infantile experience has rarely been the overt subject of poetry.
Christine Wertheim's books include two poetic suits, MUTTER—BABEL (Counterpath Press, 2013), +|'ME'S-PACE (Les Figues Press, 2007), CORPUS (a chapbook from Triage), three edited literary anthologies FEMINAISSANCE (Les Figues Press, 2010), THE N/OULIPEAN ANALECTS (Les Figues Press, 2007), and SÉANCE (Make Now Press, 2005), the last two with Matias Viegener, and Crochet Coral Reef, with Margaret Wertheim.
