Description
Poetry. Translated from the French by Matthew B. Smith. Frédéric Forte's brief and fleeting poems in SEVEN STRING QUARTETS borrow the structure and arrangement of the string quartet, but rather than performing in concert, they keep tuning up their instruments, figeting and fussing, sighing and shrugging, until they quietly and elegantly exit the stage. Throughout the work, one is swept along by what turns out to be a surprisingly subtle, finely nuanced performance.
