LE MOTS ANGLAIS, says Sawyer-Lauçanno in his introduction, "is based on Stephane Mallarmé's 1877 English grammar book Les Mots anglais, and on the exercise books (Themes anglais) he prepared for his students, probably between 1872 and 1884, while he was a teacher of English at the lycee Fontanes (Condorcet)."
Christopher Sawyer-Lauçanno is the author of more than a half-dozen books including biographies of Paul Bowles and E.E. Cummings, and a group portrait of American writers in Paris after World War II. He is also well- known as a translator and poet. Talisman House published his last book of poems MUSSOORIE-MONTAGUE MISCELLANY in 2013.
