Poetry. TAKES is the second in Bootstrap Press' Letterpress Editions. Morris proclaims: "False starts, vagaries and errata accrete, slowly compounding themselves into work. The word 'takes' most obviously implicates the violence of the subject: this piece of writing ought to be called 'Gives.' But artists are inescapably on the take just like your most corrupt cop in a detective film. And for the viewer, encountering a work of art must always take place despite the tacit and tawdry possibility he's being gulled, taken for a ride."
Jason Morris was born and raised in Vermont and now lives in San Francisco. His chapbooks are Spirits & Anchors (Auguste Press, 2010), From the Golden West Notebooks (Allone Co., 2011), Local News (Bird & Beckett Books, 2013), TAKES (Bootstrap Press, 2015), and Late to Practice (Dirty Swan, 2017). LEVON HELM (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2018) is his first full-length collection. For seven years, he was the editor of Big Bell magazine; with J Grabowski, he founded the small press PUSH.Author City: SAN FRANCISCO, CA USA
